At
its most basic, photography is simply seeing and showing. However, the photographic
artist carefully searches out, selects and thoughtfully constructs a photograph
as a personal interpretive piece. All my work is from 8"x10" and 8"x20"
original in-camera negatives, contact printed on hand-coated fine art paper
using the platinum/palladium printing method. The slow and contemplative nature
of working with large and ultra-large format view cameras, together with the
unique qualities of the platinum/palladium contact printing process, best communicates
my personal vision. The beauty and significance of an image often rests in the
finest details and subtleties. The large format film allows the capture of the
maximum details and tones of what I choose to interpret.
